Model Integration & Virtualization Engineer (m/f/d)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and integrate control-oriented models of 2-stroke internal combustion engines and their subsystems for Software-in-the-Loop (SiL), Model-in-the-Loop (MiL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) applications
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, modular, and structured Simulink model architectures using modern Model-Based Development (MBD) practices
  • Integrate engine models into National Instruments (NI) and Speedgoat HiL environments, ensuring compatibility with real-time execution requirements
  • Develop and maintain CAN, CANopen, and Modbus communication interfaces, along with the associated model interfaces
  • Collaborate with engine simulation experts to develop, improve, and validate engine models while progressively expanding your expertise in internal combustion engine modelling
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey both detailed technical information and high-level results to management
  • Be an effective team player, open and cooperative, in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment

 

Requirements: 

  • MSc in Electrical, Mechanical, Automation Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Good knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
  • Strong experience in developing structured, modular, and maintainable Simulink models using modern Model-Based Development (MBD) methodologies (e.g., Simulink Projects, Data Dictionaries, Variant Management, and Model References)
  • Good knowledge of CAN, CANopen, and Modbus communication protocols and their integration into real-time systems
  • Experience with National Instruments (NI), Speedgoat, dSPACE, or similar real-time platforms is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with Verification and Validation (V&V) processes within a Model-Based Development environment
  • Open and flexible
  • Good social skills, can work together with experts to find the best fitting solution
  • Very fluent in English
  • German language skills are considered an advantage
